It's a while since my last post, and it'll probably be a while til my next. Two reasons: firstly I'd been putting together so many images from this series I started to get sick of them, and secondly I've got heavily involved in a campaign to save my sons' community school from closure.
There's nothing wrong with the school. It's popular, successful, on a great site within walking distance of most children it serves, on a beautiful site and Ofsted declared it outstanding, but there is a proposal in place that suggests our children would be better off driven to the edge of town and taught in a new faith school. All being fair their proposal doesn't stand a chance - it's incorrect factually, educationally, and in terms of diversity and choice. Unfortunately, all isn't fair. The churches have the system weighted heavily in their favour and parents who prefer to deal with life without an imaginary friend have their view ignored and their children shall be forced to worship, pray and will be taught that they need a God to show them the difference between right and wrong.
That's my rant over. I should also say that usually I'm skeptical in the best sense and I try hard to supress the Dawkins within me, but when my children's education is threatened by the God squad, I get angry.
Anyway, my heart hasn't been filled with love for my fellow men these last couple of weeks, but I'm going to try not let it spoil Christmas. Here's a Christmas Star for your delight and season's greetings to all my many reader. My gift to you is this: Ricky Gervais and the Archbishop of Canterbury. Enjoy.
Happy Saturnalia!
PS The views expressed are my own and are not representative of anybody else at the school or any body within the school - this is my space to rant rationally or irrationally, and that is what I done did!
